Berkeley Springs sending 8 to Class A/AA State Tennis Championships

The Berkeley Springs High School Tennis Teams competed in the 2022 Region I Tennis Championships last Wednesday and Thursday, May 4 and 5. The Tribe were looking for individual and doubles titles along with team titles and also trying to qualify as many players as they could for the Class A/AA State Tennis Championships. Coach Raynette Mock and her staff can check all three of those items as accomplished as Berkeley Springs turned in an outstanding performance.

Leading the way for Berkeley Springs was senior Haden Fincham who dominated the #1 singles play. Fincham cruised to three straight wins to capture his third straight Region I Championship. Fincham then partnered with Brandon Pindell and the duo dusted the competition en route to the #1 doubles Region I title.

Also qualifying for the state tournament for the Indians were Pindell (third place, #2 singles) and Cardin Beal and Justin Brinegar (second place, #2 doubles). As a team the Tribe finished in second place in the team standings.

The Lady Indians finished in third place in the team standings. Leading the way was Truly Henry and Emma Christie (third place, #1 doubles) and Kennedy Shives and Lilly Morgan (second place, #2 doubles).

The Class A/AA State Tennis Championships will be this coming Thursday through Saturday in Charleston. Fincham will be looking to advance to his second straight #1 singles state finals and #1 doubles state finals with his eyes set on being the first tennis state champion in Berkeley Springs history.
