Adam C. “AC” Bohrer
1929-2021
Adam C. “AC” Bohrer passed away on December 23, 2021 at Spring Arbor Assisted Living in Winchester, Va.
AC was born on Christmas Day in 1929 to his parents Arkley Bohrer and Cleopatra Davison Bohrer.
AC is survived by his loving wife Shirley Hovermale Bohrer, married in 1957, and one son Kim “KC” Bohrer and wife Jennifer. One of five children, he is survived by two brothers James Bohrer, Martinsburg, W,Va., and David Bohrer, Silver Spring, Md., and some nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by two sisters and his parents.
AC was a lifelong servant to his country, state and county. He enlisted in the U.S. Air Force in 1951 during the Korean Conflict. He served in the military for nearly 40 years in the United States Air Force and the 167th West Virginia Air National Guard where he retired in 1989.
He immediately went to work for the Morgan County Sheriff’s Department as Circuit Court Bailiff for 26 years and only retired after being forced to when he was injured by an inmate who was attempting to flee custody.
He was a founding member of the Berkeley County Deputy Sheriffs Reserve and Morgan County Deputy Sheriffs Reserves.
He and Shirley owned and operated the Bohrer Bail Bonding Company for approximately 25 years serving in Morgan, Berkeley and Jefferson Counties.
AC also operated Shirley’s parent’s farm in southern Morgan County raising cattle, hay and boarding horses.
AC was a 32 Degree Mason, member of the Scottish Rite and Past Master of Deford Lodge 88 in Berkeley Springs, W.Va.
He was an active outdoorsman and hunter locally and also big game hunting in the western states, Alaska and Canada with his close friends, Don Sharp, Warren Stone, Bill Kesecker and Lin Dunham.
At his request there will be no service or interment, however a celebration of life is planned in 2022.
Memorial contributions in his honor can be made to the Morgan County Deputy Reserves or Hospice.
