William R. Hook
1934-2020
William Roy “Bill” Hook, 86, of Paw Paw, died Thursday, October 1, 2020 at the UPMC Western Maryland Hospital in Cumberland, Md.
He was born on August 3, 1934 in Paw Paw, he was the son of the late Roy A. and Virginia M. Trenter Hook.
He spent 21 years as a truck driver delivering apples for the National Fruit Production Company in Winchester, Va.
He was a member of the Timber Ridge Pentecostal Church in Cross Junction, Va.
He liked playing music.
He was survived by eight children, Martha McDaniel, Wilma Abrell, David Hook, Barbara Largent, Ruth Saulnier all of Paw Paw, Thomas Hook, Augusta, Evelyn Hook, Altoona, Pa. and Mildred Kemp, Inwood; one brother, Robert “Bobby” Hook, Bloomery; 23 grandchildren; 37 great-grandchildren and five great-great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife Betty P. Hedrick who he married on July 9, 1953 and died February 8, 2009; two daughters, Joann Solomon and Pearl Wilson; one grandchild, Gary Shambaugh II and two great-grandchildren.
A funeral service was held at the Giffin Funeral Home & Crematory on Tuesday, October 6. Interment was at Woodrow Cemetery near Paw Paw. Pastor Frank Lambert officiated.
