William Cletus “Billy” Lineburg, Jr.

1967-2021

William Cletus “Billy” Lineburg, Jr., age 53, of Berkeley Springs, W.Va., died on Friday, July 2, 2021 at his home.

Born November 7, 1967 at War Memorial Hospital in Berkeley Springs, he was the son of the late William Cletus, Sr., and Retha Geraldine Smith Lineburg.

He was a Christian.

He was a 1986 graduate of Berkeley Springs High School and earned his bachelor’s degree in Economics from Shepherd University in 1991.

Billy was employed at the Cacapon State Park Golf Pro Shop while in high school and college. After college, he began his career at the Internal Revenue Service in Kearneysville, W.Va., where he was an Information Technology Specialist.

Billy enjoyed bowhunting, fishing, golfing, working around the yard and geocaching. He loved binge watching mysteries and crime dramas and spending time with his family, especially his children. Billy was very active in his sons’ extracurricular activities and enjoyed watching them participate in their numerous sporting events. He was the Grillmaster of the house and liked to sit on the patio enjoying the koi ponds and waterfalls while smoking BBQ. He was very fond of and took great care of his beloved pets, and was every bit as bad as his wife for taking in and caring for strays. He was a lifelong Notre Dame fan, but reluctantly had to convert to an ‘eers fan while his son attended WVU.

Surviving are his wife, Stefanie Kay Miller Lineburg, at home; two sons, Trevor Dale Lineburg of Herndon, Va., and Tyler William Lineburg of Los Angeles, Calif.; a special uncle, Leroy Lineburg, of Pittsburgh, Pa.; one sister, Evelyn Marlow of Somerset, Ky.; two nieces, Patricia Iliff of Rockville, Md., and Christine Lyons of Kalama, Wash., and many cousins.

Funeral services will be conducted at 4 p.m. on Tuesday, July 13, at Helsley-Johnson Funeral Home & Cremation Center, 95 Union Street, Berkeley Springs, W.Va., where the family will receive friends from 2-4 p.m. Pastor Steve Dawson will officiate. Burial in Mt. Nebo Cemetery will be private.
