Violet C. Fox
1930-2021
Violet Catherine Fox, age 90, of Berkeley Springs, W.Va., died Monday, March 15, 2021 at her home surrounded by her family and while under the care of Hospice of the Panhandle.
Born September 13, 1930 in Morgan County, W.Va., she was the daughter of the late John W. and Mae C. Cain Butts. She was a member of the Berkeley Springs Presbyterian Church. Violet attended public schools in Morgan County.
She worked as a seamstress with London Fog Manufacturing Company in Hancock, Md. Violet enjoyed fishing, canning fruits and vegetables, quilting and sewing, where she made each of her grandchildren a special quilt. She was a homemaker in recent years.
Violet is survived by her children, Doris Jean Mowery, Roger Lee Fox and Timmy Eugene Fox, all of Berkeley Springs; nine grandchildren, Andrew S. Mowery, Derrick S. Fox, Mindy Jean Quinonez, Jason S. Mowery, Amber L. Stotler, Shyene A. Farrell and Bethany B. Dunkin, all of Berkeley Springs, Monica M. Morris, of Hagerstown, Md., Michele R. Zaccagnini, of Warrenton, Va.; 14 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Donald Elesworth Fox on October 25, 2000; two children, Gary Donald Fox and John Elesworth Fox; two brothers, Glen R. Butts and Lee Butts and one granddaughter, Michelle R. Mowery.
Funeral services were conducted at 11 a.m. at Helsley-Johnson Funeral Home & Cremation Center, 95 Union Street, Berkeley Springs, W.Va., with the Rev. Dr. Robert S. Osborne and the Rev. Dr. Alexa Smith officiating. Burial will be in Alpine Cemetery.
The family received friends from 2-4 & 6-8 p.m. on Thursday at the funeral home.
