Storm drops snow on county over two days

Sunday was sledding day for some around Morgan County as the first inches of snow accumulated.

Harrison Avenue in the North Berkeley area stayed slow-covered Monday morning.

Warm Springs Run north of Berkeley Springs got a snowy coating on Monday.

A snowstorm that spread across the whole upper portion of the U.S. from Sunday, January 31 through Monday, February 1 delivered the promised amount of snow to Morgan County and the surrounding area. Somewhere between 8 and 12 inches of snow fell steadily over the two days as temperatures stayed in the 30s. Town and county services were curtailed during the inclement weather, which shuttered the Morgan County Courthouse and county schools on Monday, and led to delayed openings on Tuesday. Main roads were clear and passable on Monday morning due to heavy road crew work, but side roads continued to pose issues as crews widened their reach into Tuesday.
