Spring snow could bring more than a foot

A winter storm warning in effect for Morgan County and the surroundings areas is calling for eight to 14 inches of snow between today, Tuesday, March 20, and 8 p.m. on Wednesday, March 21. Early accumulations on Tuesday, March 20 have already been blamed for several motor vehicle accidents in the county, including an overturned vehicle on Hancock Road north of Berkeley Springs and a tractor-trailer accident near the Virginia line. Emergency personnel are asking residents to stay off the roads so snow plows and emergency vehicles can get through. Accidents across the region have clogged up major roadways, stopping traffic for extended periods of time. Morgan County Schools are closed, as is the county courthouse, due to the snowstorm.
