Sonja Baciniski Weakley
1942-2021
Sonja Baciniski Weakley, age 78, of Berkeley Springs, W.Va., died on Friday, February 12, 2021 at her home surrounded by her family and while under the care of Hospice of the Panhandle.
Born September, 14, 1942 in Winchester, Va., she was the daughter of the late Woodrow Conley and Jeanette Mary Baciniski Zimmerman.
She was a Christian.
Sonja graduated from McKinley Tech in Washington, D.C. and earned her Associates Degree from Montgomery Community College.
She retired in 2003 with over 30 years of service as an accountant with St. Andrews Episcopal School.
Sonja was a member of Women of the Moose Chapter #1311 and Alderton-Dawson American Legion Ladies Auxiliary Unit #80 both in Berkeley Springs.
She loved spending time with her family, reading, traveling and gardening with her husband, Leonard.
Sonja is survived by her husband of 61 years, Leonard Manuel Weakley at home; her children, Beth Purdham and her husband Glenn of Woodbridge, Va., Lance Manuel Weakley and his wife Stephanie of Hanover, Md.; one sister, Sophie Zimmerman McGee of St. Michaels, Md.; one brother Byron Leitch Zimmerman and his wife Shirley of The Villages, Fla.; three grandchildren, Brittany Marie Purdham and her significant other Andrian Pittman and Bo Purdham and his significant other Juliet Ford all of Woodbridge, Va., Gabriella Marie Weakley of Hanover, Md.; one great-granddaughter, Harper Elizabeth Purdham of Woodbridge, and many nieces and nephews.
Services and burial will be private.
The family would like to thank Hospice of the Panhandle for the care and kindness they gave to them during Sonja’s illness.
In lieu of flowers, contributions in Sonja’s memory may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
