Shirley H. Dorsey
1952-2021
Shirley Hazel Dorsey, age 69, of Berkeley Springs, W.Va., returned to her Heavenly Father on Sunday, April 4, 2021 at War Memorial Hospital in Berkeley Springs.
Born January 27, 1952 in Washington, D.C., she was the daughter of the late John Shelby and Charity Bolt Cole.
She was a member of the Hancock Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, where she was active serving her church.
Shirley graduated from Oxon Hill High School in Oxon Hill, Md.
She was a homemaker to her husband and children. Shirley liked reading, drawing, crafting, flowers, working on genealogy and spending time with her family.
Shirley is survived by her husband of 50 years, Edward Thomas Dorsey at home; her children, Bryan Thomas Dorsey and his wife Serena of Logandale, Nev., Daniel Ezra Dorsey and his wife Pearl of Warfordsburg, Pa., Joshua Benjamin Dorsey and his wife Traci of Hancock and Zachary Morgan Dorsey of Berkeley Springs; three sisters, Barbara Berger of Maryland, Lillie Orrison of Lexington Park, Md., Mary Peters of Oak Hall, Va.; one brother, Butch Cole of Richmond, Va.; four grandchildren, Braden Dorsey, Bryton Dorsey, Sydney Dorsey all of Logandale and Evan Dorsey of Warfordsburg, and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one sister, Myrtle “Ginny” Hosselrode and four brothers, Earlie, John, Russel and Francis Cole.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. on Friday, April 9, 2021 at the Hancock Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, 200 Douglas Street, Hancock, Md., where the family will receive friends one hour prior to services. Burial will be in Middleburg Memorial Cemetery in Middleburg, Va.
In lieu of flowers, contributions in Shirley’s memory may be made directly to the funeral home to help defray funeral expenses.
