Ronald Lee “Buck” Goodman, Jr., age 68, of Berkeley Springs, WV, died on Friday, June 1, 2018 at Winchester Medical Center.
Born April 12, 1950 in Berkeley Springs, WV, he was the son of the late Ronald Lee and Lucy See Swecker Goodman.
He was a member of St. Mark’s Episcopal Church in Berkeley Springs, was a 1968 graduate of Berkeley Springs High School and a 1972 graduate of WVU in Morgantown where he earned his Bachelor of Science Degree in business administration.
Buck was a member of WV Alpha Chapter of Phi Kappa Psi Fraternity.
After graduation from WVU, he moved to Richmond, VA where he lived for almost forty years and began his career as an underwriter at Continental Insurance, eventually becoming V.P. of West Coast Division for Markel Insurance Corp.
Buck returned to Berkeley Springs in 2011 and was a member of Loyal Order of Moose Lodge #1483 in Berkeley Springs and V.F.W. Post #6364 in Richmond.
Surviving are his sister, Rhonda Goodman Sirbaugh and her husband Fred, of Berkeley Springs, his nephew, Seth Harrison Sirbaugh of Frederick, MD and his niece, Shea Elizabeth Sirbaugh of Berkeley Springs. He also leaves behind his companion, Phyllis Eileen Nelson Moss of Berkeley Springs and his beloved cat, “Phiget.”
Throughout his life, Buck’s interests included playing golf, shooting pool, playing bridge and poker, and watching all sports.
He was a devoted WV Mountaineers and Dallas Cowboys fan.
He loved to dance to “the oldies” and work outdoors in his yard and garden.
For those who knew Buck well, his philosophy of life was to “celebrate it while you’re alive” and to remember that “a joy shared is doubled, a sorrow shared is halved.” One of his favorite songs, I Did It My Way by Frank Sinatra, tells the story of Buck’s life.
Private services will be held at the convenience of his family.
