Ronald E. Smith

 1942-2018

Ronald Edgel “Smitty” Smith, 75, of Paw Paw, died Wednesday, May 23, 2018 at Western Maryland Health Systems in Cumberland, Md.

Born October 30, 1942 in Kirby, he was the son of the late Edgell and Pauline Miller Smith Teter.

He was of the Protestant faith.

He was a graduate of Paw Paw High School and served with the U.S. Air Force stationed in Turkey during the Vietnam War.

He worked for many years at Kelly Springfield Tires in Cumberland and then at Kraft Foods in Winchester, Va.

He was a member of Harley Bohrer American Legion Post #128 in Paw Paw.

He liked playing poker at the American Legion, basketball, football and sports in general.

Surviving are his wife of 49 1/2 years, Karen Mae Brown Smith, at home; one daughter, Dawn Weese, Paw Paw; two sisters, Sandra Hollen and Lisa Getz, both of Harrisburg, Pa.; one brother, Richard Teter, Cumberland; three grandchildren, Sarah Fisher, Hagerstown, Md., Erica Smith, Boonsboro, Md. and River Weese, Martinsburg; one great-granddaughter and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Eric Smith.

Services and interment will be private.
