Roland Cornel Spitzer
1947-2021
Roland Cornel Spitzer, 73, of Kearneysville, W.Va., passed away on Tuesday, April 27, 2021 at Jefferson Medical Center in Ranson, W.Va.
Born September 20, 1947 in Martinsburg, W.Va., he was the son of Betty Lee Whisner Spitzer and the late William Bell Spitzer.
He was of the Methodist faith and a veteran of the U.S. Navy.
In addition to his mother, Betty, he is survived by his companion, Mary Hill; six children, Nicole Stoneberger and husband, Jamey, Pamela Hawkins and husband, Charlie, Angela Reeley and husband, Steve, Cassie Thurston, JoAnn Spitzer and Scott Hill and wife, Merrissa; 13 grandchildren, Brady Longerbeam, Chloe McDaniel, Chuck Hawkins, Brittany Moats and husband, Bryan, Kevin Longerbeam, Curtis Longerbeam, Drake Hill, Kari Thurston, Kristian Thurston, Frankee McCumbee, Matthew McCumbee, Kristen Baker and Sidney Baker; four bonus children from a previous marriage to Kay Jenkins, Kelly Campbell and husband, Ray, Ricky Nokes and wife, Michelle, Sammy Nokes and Harvey Nokes; five bonus grandchildren, Connor and Jonathan Campbell, Brandon and Zachary Nokes and Britney Anderson and husband, Steve.
He was preceded in death by his father, William; sister, Kathy Jean Spitzer; grandson, William Thomas Spitzer and great-grandson, Landon Alexander Longerbeam.
Services were held at 2:30 p.m. on Monday, May 3, 2021 at Eackles-Spencer & Norton Funeral Home, 256 Halltown Road, Harpers Ferry, W.Va. Interment will be in Edge Hill Cemetery in Charles Town, W.Va.
The family received friends at the funeral home on Sunday from 6-8 pm.
