Robert W. Hendershot, Sr.
1941-2020
Robert Wayne Hendershot, Sr., age 79, of Hancock, Md., passed away at his home on Friday, September 11, 2020.
Born in Hancock, on July 18, 1941, he was the son of the late James C. and Eva M. (Shaffer) Hendershot; and the husband, for 60 years, of Edna M. (Carlisle) Hendershot.
He was a member of the Mount Olivet Presbyterian Church, in Hancock.
He retired from Mack Truck, in Hagerstown, Md., after thirty years of employment; and was a member of the UAW Local 171.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by two daughters, Sharon K. Ward and her husband, Leon, and Lisa M. Manning and her husband, Jeff, both of Hancock; two sisters, Patricia Thomas, and Ellen Ward; one brother, James Roger Hendershot; 23 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sons, Robert W. Hendershot, Jr. “Robbie” and Rodney Hendershot; two sisters, Janice Curtis and Patience McBee; and one brother, Harry Hendershot.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday, September 16, 2020, from 9-11 a.m., at the Mount Olivet Presbyterian Church, 14253 Exline Road, Hancock, where services will be held at 11 a.m., with Rev. William Swope officiating. Burial will follow in the Buck Valley Christian Cemetery, in Warfordsburg, Pa.
In lieu of flowers, donations in his name may be made to the Hancock Fire Department, 3 Fulton St., Hancock Md. 21750, or the Orleans Fire Department, 12210 Orleans Rd., Little Orleans, Md. 21766.
The arrangements were entrusted to the Grove Funeral Home, in Hancock.
