Richard C. Eckley

Richard C. Eckley

1934-2020

Richard Carlyle Eckley, “Dick the Dog,” age 85, of Warfordsburg, Pa., passed away on Monday, March 30, 2020 at his home.

Born June 21, 1934, in Kalamazoo, Mich., the son of the late John Eckley and Genevieve (Rix) Nichols.

He was an active member and friend to everyone at the Warfordsburg Senior Center.

Richard was a loving father and caring friend, with the kindest soul; however, far from a saint with his sometimes colorful humor…most of it laughed at by just himself. He was a genuinely good man with a heart of gold. He enjoyed singing, even when not in his range; he loved Elvis Presley; and wasn’t afraid to be the center of attention. He lived life to the fullest; saw the world through an artists’ eyes and poured his heart into his poetry.

Richard is survived by his three sons, Richard, Michael and Kelly Eckley; his daughter, Heather Eckley; and his beloved grandchildren, Matthew, Ethan, Aidan and Teagan.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Ghon Eckley; and his sister, Nancy St. John.

Funeral and memorial services will be announced at a later date by the family.

The family would like to send a heartfelt “thank you” to Cindy and the Warfordsburg Senior Center for the love and community that they provided our father.

Arrangements have been entrusted to the Grove Funeral Home, in Hancock, Md.

Online condolences will be accepted at www.grovefh.com.
