1948-2021

Richard Arthur “Rick” Jenkinson, Jr., age 73, of Berkeley Springs, W.Va., died on Wednesday, July 28, 2021 at Veterans Affairs Medical Center in Martinsburg, W.Va.

Born January 23, 1948 in Rochester, N.Y., he was the son of the late Richard Arthur Jenkinson, Sr. and the late Emily Helen Glanton Jenkinson.

He was a Christian.

Rick was a graduate of Rochester Public Schools and attended college for one year.

He served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War.

Rick worked as a jailer with the Morgan County Sheriff’s Department, a dishwasher for the Pizza & Chicken House and sorter at the Create-a-Card, all in Berkeley Springs.

He was a member of Jr.O.U.A.M Council #117 in Berkeley Springs.

Rick enjoyed writing, collecting antiques and enjoyed listening to Bob Dylan.

Rick is survived by his wife, Debra Kay VanGosen Jenkinson in Berkeley Springs; three children, Leilah Jenkinson, Richard A. Jenkinson III and Crystal D. Buhrman, all of Berkeley Springs; two sisters, Susan Jenkinson, of Canada, Judy Bruce-Mangle, of Florida; three grandchildren, Lydia Jenkinson, Sterling Wills and Randy D. Buhrman, Jr., all of Berkeley Springs, and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one grandson, Jarrett Johnson.

Funeral services were conducted at 1 p.m. on Monday, August 2, 2021 at Helsley-Johnson Funeral Home & Cremation Center, 95 Union Street, Berkeley Springs, where the family received friends from 11 a.m. until service time. Pastor Jack Hiles, Jr. will officiate. Military honors were provided by the Tri-State Honor Guard. Burial will be private.

In lieu of flowers, contributions in Rick’s memory made be made directly to the funeral home to help defray funeral expenses.
