Paw Paw EMS station set to be completed by new year

A newly-built Morgan County EMS station in Paw Paw is roughly 70% complete and should be occupied by the end of 2020 or the start of 2021.

Kevin Duckwall, Director of Morgan County Rescue Service, Inc. said the agency was hoping to have ambulance crews in the new facility this month, but construction delays will take that target to the end of the year.

The two-bay garage and EMS building will be the home of the current crew that operates out of the Paw Paw Fire Department building now.

Duckwall said the crew will remain the same in Paw Paw – two staff members and two EMS units available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

“There is minimal space to grow in the future,” Duckwall said of the new building. It is designed to house the on-duty crew plus accommodate more staff in case of a large emergency situation or bad weather.

Weather-permitting, there will be an asphalt drive and apron installed around the building before the end of the year, said Duckwall.

Morgan County Rescue Service, Inc. is the company contracted by the Morgan County Commission to provide around-the-clock emergency medical services to county residents.
