Paul L. Zimmerman
1928-2021
Paul Leo Zimmerman, age 92, of Berkeley Springs, W.Va. died on Wednesday, February 3, 2021 at Hospice of the Panhandle inpatient facility.
Born October 26, 1928 in Morgan County, W.Va., he was the son of the late Levin Oliver and Emma V. Farris Zimmerman.
He attended Trinity Asbury Church in Berkeley Springs, W.Va.
He graduated from Berkeley Springs High School in 1948.
He worked for the United States Postal Service as a rural and town carrier.
He was a member of Deford Lodge #88 A.F. & A.M., Eastern Star Chapter 77 in Berkeley Springs, Ali Ghan Shriners, Tall Cedars of Lebanon Shenandoah Forest No. 150, Eastern Panhandle Shriner Club of Osiris Temple of Wheeling, W.Va., York Rite College No.175, Junior Order United American Mechanics #117, Scottish Rite Freemasonry of the 33-degree, Grand Chapter of West Virginia Lebanon No.2, Palestine Commandery No. 2 Knights Templar, Alderton-Dawson American Legion Post #60.
He made over 100 trips transporting children to the Shriners hospital in Philadelphia and Cincinnati.
He was a tuba player in the Shriners Band, and community bands in Hancock and Berkeley Springs.
Paul is survived by two daughters. Barbara Zimmerman of Berkeley Springs, Susan Clark and husband Danny of Berkeley Springs, W.Va.; two grandchildren, Jami Clark and wife Misty of Berkeley Springs and Sarabeth Swope and husband Billy of Berkeley Springs; three great-children, Addie Swope, Jeremiah Clark and Katelynn Clark.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Madeline O’Rourke Zimmerman on October 21, 2008.
The family received friends on Sunday from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. at the funeral home. Masks are required.
Funeral Services were conducted on Monday, February 8 at 1 p.m. at Trinity Asbury Church, 108 Wilkes Street, Berkeley Springs, W.Va. with Pastor Chuck Bergen and William Swope. Burial was in Spohrs Crossroad Cemetery.
