Panther band takes 1st at Busch Gardens music festival

The Hancock High School Panther Band placed first at the Music in the Parks Festival in Busch Gardens, Williamsburg During the first weekend of June. The band, under the direction of Susan Mott, enjoyed a three-day trip to the Williamsburg area where they played in the music festival, spent a day at Busch Gardens and toured Colonial Williamsburg.

Autumn Pittman, a 2014 graduate of Hancock High School, a recent graduate of Christopher Newport University and Panther Band alumni, provided the band with a tour of Colonial Williamsburg. The band visited the Wythe House, the Williamsburg courthouse and jail, and the Palace Gardens. Twenty-two students and thirteen chaperones participated in the trip.

Band musicians who performed at the music festival were: Jennifer Jenkins, Evelyn Davis, Garrett Fox, Sarah Hendershot, Evan Dorsey, Sunni Schriver, Grace Harshman, Kayla Wood, Morgan Mills, Mark Stevens, Josie Knable, Zoey Brewer, Ian Lennon-Puthoff, Seth Bivens, Daniel Thomas, Iziah Thomas, Emma Stouffer, Skylee Shipley, Ayden Thomas, Andrue Cross, Emily Wood and Ashley Hendershot.
