No mail on Wednesday

Post office officials have confirmed reports that U.S. Postal Service locations will be closed on Wednesday, December 5. Wednesday has been set as a national day of mourning for former U.S. President George H. W. Bush, who died on Friday, November 30 at the age of 94.

The offices of federal executive agencies, including the U.S. Postal Service, will be closed on that day. An Executive Order by President Donald Trump was issued on December 1 announcing the closure as a mark of respect for the 41st president.

Because there will be no mail service on Wednesday, home delivery of The Morgan Messenger and The Hancock News will be delayed. The papers will be available on news stands and at the newspaper offices as usual.
