1930-2020

Lester George Mellott, age 90, passed away on Saturday, October 31, 2020, at Julia Manor Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, in Hagerstown Md.

Born on July 9, 1930, in Hancock, Md., he was the son of the late George Greenberry and Gladys Leanora (Mann) Mellott; and the widower of Virginia Irene (McInturff) Mellott, whom he married May 23, 1952, and who passed away May 26, 2009.

He was employed as a butcher by Pittman’s Market, in Hancock, for over 30 years.

He was a PFC in the U.S. Army during the Korean War, serving as an Aviation Radio Repairman from 1951 until 1953, while stationed in Germany.

He was a member of the Hancock Assembly of God; and he loved to attend auctions.

Lester is survived by two sons, Gregory Lynn Mellott, of Hancock, and Ricky Dewayne Mellott, Sr. and his companion, Dale Woodley, of Everett Pa.; one god-daughter, Kimberly Lynn Dove and her husband, Jimmie, of Warfordsburg, Pa.; two grandchildren, Leslie Dawn Caldwell and her husband, Mike, of Berkeley Springs, W.Va., and Ricky Dewayne Mellott, Jr., of Hancock; two great-grandchildren, Destiny Marie Mellott and Peyton Michael Caldwell.

The family will receive friends at the Grove Funeral Home, 141 West Main Street, Hancock, on Wednesday, November 4, 2020, from 6 until 8 p.m.

Funeral services will be held at the Funeral Home on Thursday, November 5, 2020, at 11 a.m. with Rev. Don Preston officiating. Burial, with military honors by the Tri-State Honor Guard, will follow in the Mays Chapel Cemetery, in Warfordsburg, Pa.

In lieu of flowers, donations in his name may be made to the Dementia Society of America, 188 North Main Street, Doylestown, Pa. 18901.
