1938-2018
Laura Alice Bloom, 80, of Berkeley Springs, died Thursday, May 31, 2018 at the Extended Care Facility of War Memorial Hospital.
Born January 30, 1938 in Viacova, she was the daughter of the late Ruff and Una Viola Worrell Smith.
She was a member of Wesley Chapel United Methodist Church in Berkeley Springs.
She was a graduate of the Tilden School in Raleigh County and had been a homemaker for most of her life.
She was a member of the Great Cacapon Volunteer Fire Company, liked CB radios and was a member of REACT, an emergency notification system that was the predecessor to cell phones.
Surviving are her children, Barry Bloom and Angel Bloom Harden, both of Berkeley Springs; two brothers, Clytus Smith, Murfreesboro, Tenn. and Ivan Smith, Beaver; two grandchildren, Codi McJilton, Berkeley Springs and Daniel McJilton, Great Cacapon and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Ralph Kenneth Bloom; one sister, Glada Bloom and three brothers, Lyndon Smith, Verlan Smith and Vilus Smith.
Funeral services were conducted Monday, June 4 at Helsley-Johnson Funeral Home & Cremation Center, Berkeley Springs. Pastor Steve Dawson officiated.
Interment was in Mt. Pleasant United Methodist Church Cemetery.
