Lady Indians drop three games

The Berkeley Springs High School Lady Indians Varsity Basketball Team lost three games this week to move their record to 0-5 on the season.The Lady Indians hosted the Moorefield Yellow Jackets on Tuesday, March 9.

Moorefield jumped out to a 15-8 lead in the first quarter. By halftime Moorefield increased their lead to 34-18.

In the third quarter the Yellow Jackets pushed the score to 45-27. In the fourth quarter the Lady Indians battled back, but fell by the score of 58-40.

Caybrie Clatterbuck (nine points), Harly Didawick (seven points), Emma Widmyer (six points), Karalyne Banks (five points), Jazmine Briscoe (five points), Tyaira Mifflin (four points) and Grace Risinger (two points) supplied the scoring for Berkeley Springs.

The Lady Indians traveled to Hedgesville for a contest with the Lady Eagles on Thursday, March 11. Hedgesville outscored Berkeley Springs 17-4 in the first quarter. At the half the Lady Indians trailed 28-12.

The third quarter saw Hedgesville increase their lead to 40-18. By the end of the fourth quarter Berkeley Springs battled back, but lost by the score of 54-40.

Clatterbuck (14 points), Didawick (12 points), Mifflin (five points), Widmyer (four points), Maddie Fauver (two points), Grace Risinger (two points) and Banks (one point) led the way.

Last Saturday, March 13 the Lady Indians hosted the Union Tigers on senior night. Before the game seniors Clatterbuck, Banks and Mifflin were honored.

Berkeley Springs jumped out to a 20-7 first quarter lead and by the half had a comfortable 25-12 lead.

The second half proved to be a nightmare for the Lady Indians as Union battled back with a 22-4 third quarter run to take a 34-29 lead. The fourth quarter saw Union maintain its advantage and take the 47-40 win to drop the Lady Indians to 0-5.

Didawick (14 points), Clatterbuck (10 points), Mifflin (eight points), Widmyer (five points), Stephanie Briscoe (two points) and Banks (one point) led the Lady Indians in scoring.

Next up for Berkeley Springs was an away contest at Washington on Monday, March 15. Then tonight, Wednesday, March 17 Berkeley Springs will host Petersburg at 5 p.m. They will travel to Keyser for a 6:30 p.m. contest on Friday, March 19.
