The Berkeley Springs High School Indians hosted the Class AA Region I Golf Championships at the Cacapon State Park Golf Resort on Monday, September 28. With nine teams vying for the top two team’s state qualifying spots the stakes were at an all-time high.
Keyser laid claim to one of the team spots as the Golden Tornado shot a team low 256 to edge North Marion (260) and host Berkeley Springs (262). The Indians fell two strokes shy from a team qualifying spot.
Grafton’s Chris Miller shot a two under par (70) and was the regional low medalist. Earning an at large spot was Berkeley Springs senior Jordan Miller. Miller shot an 83 to seize his first ever state tournament appearance.
Rounding out the scoring for Berkeley Springs were junior Sara Veara (86) and two seniors who played their last rounds in an Indians golf uniform were Carson Stotler (93) and Cole McClintock (104). Another senior Graham Lindsay finished his season the week before for the Indians.
Miller will play in the WV AA State Golf Championships this coming week at the Oglebay Resort Club located in Wheeling.
