Jack D. Rankin

1938-2019

Jack David Rankin, age 80, of Berkeley Springs, W.Va., died Tuesday, March 5, 2019 at Veterans Affair Medical Center in Martinsburg, W.Va.

Born June 4, 1938 in Morgan County he was the son of the late Melvin Boyd “Mutt” and Margaret Virginia “Ginny” Hovermale Rankin. He attended Trinity Church.

He attended Berkeley Springs High School.

He served in the United States Army he was stationed at Fort Hood in Texas. He worked for Wilson Trucking and for U Haul as a mechanic. He was an assistant manager for both companies.

He enjoyed car racing, mechanical work along with home improvement.

He is survived by his wife of 56 years Sharon Scardino Rankin at home; two daughters, Tammy L. Coleman and husband William of Virginia Beach, Va., and Faith V. Logsdon and husband Kent of Fenton, Mo.; one son, Alan D. Rankin and wife Kristin of Virginia Beach, Va.; five grandchildren, Christina Myers, Angela Goodman, Megan Edlinger and husband Michael, Corwin Logsdon and wife Ashley and Morgan Logsdon, two great granddaughters, Alexis Arrington and Layla Goodman, two great grandsons, Coleman Edlinger and Aiden Logsdon.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by one brother, Melvin D. Rankin.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made to VA Medical Center c/o CLCA Center, 510 Butler Ave, Martinsburg, WV 25405.

The family received friends on Friday at Hunter-Anderson Funeral Home, 36 S. Green Street, Berkeley Springs, W.Va, from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m.

Burial will be private.
