Indians baseball edges Grafton 4-3

The Berkeley Springs High School Indians Varsity Baseball Team hit the road for the trip to Taylor County and Grafton High School last Saturday, May 8. The Indians were looking to pick up win number three of the season.

In the first inning the Indians jumped out to a 2-0 lead as a Jordan Miller RBI groundout supplied one of the runs for the Tribe. Both teams stayed scoreless after that until the sixth inning.

In the sixth inning the Indians increased their lead to 4-0 over the Bearcats. Grafton rallied in the bottom of the sixth inning with three runs of their own. However, the Indians settled down and picked up the 4-3 win over Grafton.

Offensively the Tribe was led by Tyler Barney (two hits and RBI), Carson Stotler (3B and run), Nathan Guzick (2B), J. Miller (RBI and two walks), Cole Oursler (3B and RBI), Logan Whitmore (hit and run) and Reagan Johnson (run).

Oursler a sophomore went six innings scattering six hits, three earned runs and striking out six to earn the win. Barney pitched an inning and struck out two Bearcat batters. Berkeley Springs is now 3-7 on the season.

The Indians were back on the diamond Monday, May 10 when they hosted Class AAA Washington Patriots at Morgan Field.
