Hancock doctor has extra vaccines, offers to all

A Hancock, Md. medical practice got more COVID vaccine than they ordered and are now offering the shots to anyone in the area over the age of 18.

Dr. Matt Hahn of Riverbend Family Medicine said Friday his practice got 400 doses of the Moderna vaccine rather than the 100 doses they had ordered. He now wants to offer them freely to individuals in the area, including to people in the Berkeley Springs area and up into Fulton County, Pa.

Dr. Matthew Hahn.

“We do not want them to go to waste,” said Dr. Hahn.

Vaccines are free and the residence of the individual getting vaccinated doesn’t matter.

Hahn said his practice is also calling businesses to see if any want vaccines to be given at their location.

Anyone interested in getting the two-shot Moderna vaccine from Riverbend Family Medicine can call 301-678-7007 to schedule a time to come to the office, which is located on Pennsylvania Avenue in Hancock.

Dr. Hahn said his office tries to schedule shots on Tuesdays and Thursdays. Patients are then scheduled for a second vaccine one month after the time of the first vaccine.

“They do not need to be patients of our practice, and they do not need to have insurance,” Dr. Hahn said.
