Group to train clergy, church leaders on child victimization

The Morgan County Multidisciplinary Investigative Team will be hosting a free training for church leaders on September 8 on the topic of child victimization and community leaders’ response to the issue.

Safe Haven Child Advocacy Center, Shenandoah Women’s Center, the Morgan County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office and West Virginia State Police will lead the event, which will be held at the Education Room of War Memorial Hospital in Berkeley Springs.

Participants are asked to register by September 5 to attend the training. The event will run from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Refreshments and lunch will be provided.

Presentations include information about social media and online safety, obligations of mandatory reporting and domestic and sexual violence awareness.

Church leaders, church volunteers and staff who work with children can attend the training.
