1920-2018
Freda Maxine Gross, 97, of Paw Paw, died Tuesday, May 8, 2018 at the home of her daughter in Manassas Park, Va.
She was born June 8, 1920 at Points, she was the daughter of the late Marvin Puffinburger and Dorothy Haines Puffinburger.
She was a mail carrier.
She was a member of the Paw Paw United Methodist Church, the Red Hats Society, Farm Womens’ Club and a 4-H leader.
She is survived by three daughters, Dorothy “Dot” Parker, Manassas Park, Claudette Branca, Springfield, Va. and Helen Smallwood, Winchester, Va.; two sisters, Janis Saville, Winchester and Grace Watson, Frostburg, Md.; four brothers, Claude Puffinburger, Levels, James “Jim” Puffinburger, Stephens City, Va., Paul Puffinburger, Augusta and Elmo Puffinburger, Hanover, Md.; five grandchildren and a number of great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Claude Wilbur Gross on May 31, 1977; a son, Thomas Gross; a daughter, Alice Gross; two brothers, Leo Puffinburger and Carl Puffinburger and a sister, Naomi Glanzman.
Funeral services were Friday, May 11 at Paw Paw United Methodist Church. Rev. Darlene Powers officiated.
Funeral arrangements were under the direction of the Kimble Funeral Home, Paw Paw.
