Fight leads to drug arrests

A Saturday evening 911 call for a fight at a Morgan County apartment building has resulted in three people being charged for drug-related crimes.

Police responded around 6 p.m. to the 6000 block of Valley Road to two emergency calls about a physical altercation.

According to a criminal complaint filed in Morgan County Magistrate Court, Cpl. Luke Shambaugh of the Morgan County Sheriff’s Department, police arrived and found one man bloodied on the hand and head. The man said he had been invited to another apartment, but had been attacked by the residents when he went there.

Lt. S. A. Place and Deputy Burkholder of the Morgan County Sheriff’s Department and Cpl. S.R. Smith of the West Virginia State Police also responded to the location.

During an investigation in the two one-room apartments, police officers found a wide variety of drug paraphernalia in plain sight, including numerous syringes, needle caps, a smoking device, needles, and a black box containing more syringes, cotton balls and baggies with 12 colored capsules and 12 clear capsules.

Police said Daniel R. Anno, 25, of Berkeley Springs admitted that the capsules contained heroin and fentanyl, which he had provided to two other people staying in his apartment.

Police charged Anno with possession with the intent to deliver heroin.

The two other occupants of the apartment were also charged with drug offenses.

Alexis M. Oliver, 33, of Selden, N.Y. was charged with felony conspiracy to deliver controlled substances. At the time of their November 14 investigation, police reported that Oliver was incoherent and had overdosed several days before at that location. She is being held at the Eastern Regional Jail in lieu of a $1,500 bond.

Joshua A. Drennan, 38, of Berkeley Springs was also charged with felony conspiracy to deliver controlled substances. He was being held in lieu of a $1,500 bond.

Police allege that both Drennan and Oliver were part of Anno’s drug selling operation out of the apartment and that Anno supplied the two with drugs. Drennan was identified by police as Anno’s step-brother and Oliver as Anno’s girlfriend.

Anno is being held in lieu of a $5,000 cash/surety bond.
