Ernestine Q. Hayter

1920-2018

Ernestine Quinell Hayter, 97, of Berkeley Springs, died Friday, August 31, 2018 at The Berkeley Springs Center LLC.

Born October 16, 1920 in Bristol, Va., she was the daughter of the late Ernest Jefferson and Ethel Roena Parker Callahan.

She was a member of Mt. Olivet United Methodist Church.

She graduated from Greendale High School in Greendale, Va.

She worked in the cafeteria with the Baltimore County Schools. She also worked at the Grace Hosiery Mill, Bristol.

She liked going to the Senior Center, playing in the Kitchen Band, playing piano and autoharp.

She is survived by her daughter, Jerelene Hall, White Marsh, Md.; one brother, Jerry Callahan, Abingdon, Va.; five grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; one great-great- grandchild and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Ballard Titus Hayter on June 6, 2015; one son, Glen Hayter and one sister, Elizabeth Eades.

Funeral services will be conducted at 1 p.m. on Thursday, September 6 at Helsley-Johnson Funeral Home & Cremation Center, 95 Union Street, Berkeley Springs with Pastor Lloyd McCanna officiating.

Burial will be in Mt. Olivet Church Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. on Thursday at the funeral home.
