Ellen B. Norris
1924-2020
Ellen Belle Norris, 95, of Hancock, died Friday, May 29, 2020 at War Memorial Hospital, Berkeley Springs.
Born June 4, 1924 in Berkeley Springs, she was the daughter of the late Edward and Irene May Buckner Payne and the widow of John William Norris, Sr.
She attended Grace Christian Fellowship Church, Hancock.
She is survived by three daughters, Virginia Jones and Barbara Hackathrone, both of Erie, Pa. and Debra Love, Milford, Ohio; one sister, Jackie Melott, Hancock; eight grandchildren, Robert Hoopengardner, Amy Swartz, Steve Chuldz, Jerry Miley, Ritchie Miley, Michaela Waugh, Loucinda Schlotterbeck and Paul Norris; 12 great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by one son, John Norris, Jr.; two daughters, Mary Norris and Darlene Miley; four brothers, Glen Payne, Sam Payne, Charles Payne and infant David Payne; four half-brothers, Roy Payne, Russell Payne, Richard Payne and Lyle Payne and four half-sisters, Winnie Fox, Louise Fox, Rachel McBee and Hazel “Peg” Hendershot.
A memorial service will be held at a later date.
