Edward R. Whisner

1921-2018

Edward Raymond “Whiz” Whisner, age 96, of Berkeley Springs, W.Va., died on Wednesday, March 14, 2018 at The Berkeley Springs Center, LLC in Berkeley Springs, W.Va.

Born April 1, 1921 in Magnolia, W,Va., he was the son of the late Lawrence Edward and Loretta Gross Whisner.

He was a member of First United Methodist Church in Berkeley Springs, W.Va.

He attended Paw Paw High School in Paw Paw, W.Va.

Edward was a Conductor for the B & O Railroad. He was a member and a Past Master of Deford Lodge #88 A.F. & A.M. and a 32nd degree Mason in Berkeley Springs, W.Va. He was a member of Berkeley Chapter #77 Order of the Eastern Star.

He was the land manager and a charter and last serving member of the Orr-Moore Hunting Club. He enjoyed hunting and fishing.

He was also an avid fan of the Detroit Tigers.

He is survived by one daughter Mary Ann Whisner Lewis and her husband Kirby of Inwood, W.Va.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife of 73 years, Mary Mavoureen Hofe Whisner on August 26, 2016 and one brother, James William Whisner.

The family would like to thank the staff and caregivers of The Berkeley Springs Center for the loving care given to both Whiz and Pee Wee.

Funeral Services were Sunday, March 18 at 3 p.m. at Hunter-Anderson Funeral Home, with Pastor Steve Dawson officiating. Burial will be in Great Cacapon Cemetery with Masonic Graveside rites.

Friends were received on Saturday, March 17 at the funeral home from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m.
