1944-2018
Earl James Hendershot, age 73, of Warfordsburg, Pa., died on Sunday, June 17, 2018 at his home.
Born November 22, 1944 at home in Warfordsburg, PA., he was the son of the late Kenneth Ellsworth and Stella Virginia Barnhart Hendershot.
He was a member of the Presbyterian Church USA.
Earl was a 1962 graduate of Southern Fulton High School, earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Industrial Arts from Millersville University.
He taught industrial arts at Hancock High School for nine years and for the past 45 years had worked the family dairy farming operation.
He was a member of the Pennsylvania Farm Bureau and Gideon’s International.
Earl enjoyed bluegrass music.
Surviving are his wife of 39 years, Carol Edna Slagenweit Hendershot, at home; his children, Sara Catherine Hillegass and her husband Matthew of Raleigh, N.C., and Andrew Kenneth Hendershot and his wife Tiffany of Warfordsburg; his sister, Lois Lee Mellott of Warfordsburg; five grandchildren, Samuel Jameson Hillegass, Mason William Hillegass and Stella Jane Pearl Hillegass, all of Raleigh, Denton Philip Hendershot and Hannah Rose Hendershot, both of Warfordsburg and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Paul Alonza Hendershot and Daryl Lynn Hendershot.
Funeral services will be conducted at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, June 20, 2018 at Hancock Presbyterian Church, 17 E. Main Street, Hancock, Md., with The Rev. Dr. Terry Martin-Minnich officiating.
Interment will be in Warfordsburg Presbyterian Church Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 5-8 p.m. on Tuesday at Helsley-Johnson Funeral Home & Cremation Center, 95 Union Street, Berkeley Springs, W.Va.
