Douglas McArthur Stanley, Jr., age 52, of Hedgesville, W.Va., died on Thursday, April 29, 2021 in Beckley, W.Va.

Born August 19, 1968, in Reidsville, N.C., he was the son of Kathryn Louise Wray Mull of Berkeley Springs and the late Douglas McArthur Stanley.

He attended Wesleyan Chapel in Berkeley Springs.

Doug earned his GED in 1986.

He was an over the road truck driver for J.P. Trucking in Falling Waters, W.Va. and worked for 10 years with D.M. Bowman in Williamsport, Md.

Doug enjoyed listening to music, singing karaoke, drinking coffee, watching his favorite football team, the Pittsburgh Steelers. He loved spending time with his family and driving truck.

In addition to his mother, he was survived by his daughter, Destinee Louise Richards and her husband Michael both of Hedgesville; stepfather, Harry Thomas Mull of Berkeley Springs; one sister, Anita Louise Barney of Berkeley Springs; one brother, Michael James Stanley of Berkeley Springs; one granddaughter, Brexlee Louise Miller of Hedgesville and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by one sister, Ann Marie Stanley.

Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. on Friday, May 7, 2021 at Helsley-Johnson Funeral Home & Cremation Center, 95 Union Street, Berkeley Springs, W.Va., where the family will receive friends from 11 a.m.-2 p.m. Pastor Matthew Swope will officiate. Burial will be in Mt. Pleasant Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, contributions in Doug’s memory may be made to help defray funeral expenses directly to the funeral home.
