Don O. Mayberry
1932-2021
Don Oliver Mayberry, age 88, of Berkeley Springs, W.Va., died on Friday, May 21, 2021 at Winchester Medical Center.
He was born on August 10, 1932 in Evansville, Indiana, to the late Guy Curtis and Edith Burns Mayberry.
He was a graduate of Marion High School in Marion, Kentucky, attended Murray State University and served in the United States Air Force.
He retired from the World Bank where he worked as a Building Engineer. He was a member of Greenwood United Methodist Church and was always putting others needs before his own.
Don is survived by two of his sons, Larry Mayberry, of Germantown, Md. and Stephen Mayberry (Theresa), of Clarksburg, Md.; a daughter-in-law, Jana Mayberry. In addition, his companion, Dorothy Luttrell, of Berkeley Springs, W.Va.; two sisters, Barbara Peck, of Tiline, Ky. and Phyllis Dutchke, of Louisville, Ky.; five grandchildren, Joshua Mayberry (Novia), Samantha Mayberry, Shawn Mayberry, Heather Mayberry and Jayden Mayberry. He has three great grandchildren, Joshua Mayberry, Jr., Takur Mayberry and Bodhi Casis-Mayberry.
In addition to his parents, Don was preceded in death by his wife, Roberta E. “Bunny” Whiting Mayberry; one son, David Mayberry and a step-father, Calvin Cline.
His personal interests included: square dancing, camping, fishing and boating with family as well as friends. He volunteered his time with the Red Robin Foundation to help families in need and many other church community services.
A Celebration of Life will be conducted at 1 p.m. on Saturday, June 19, 2021 at Greenwood United Methodist Church, 12031 Winchester Grade Road, Berkeley Springs, W.Va., where the family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Pastor Lloyd McCanna will officiate. Military honors will be provided by the Tri-State Honor Guard. Private burial will be in the Greenwood Grove Cemetery. Following the church service, everyone is invited to the Greenwood United Methodist Church Community Center, 8989 Winchester Grade Road, Berkeley Springs, W.Va.
