1926-2020

Denny Richard Colbert, 94, of Berkeley Springs, died Monday, September 14, 2020 at his home while under the care of Hospice of the Panhandle.

Born January 12, 1926 in Altoona, Pa., he was the son of the late John and Martha Nash Colbert.

He was a Christian.

He was a 1943 graduate of Hollidaysburg High School in Hollidaysburg, Pa. and earned a bachelor’s degree from Penn State in 1953.

He served in the U.S. Army during World War II.

He retired as an analyst from the Social Security Administration.

He liked exercising, reading, writing and always wanted to learn new things.

Suriving are his wife of 59 years, Ella Louise Hall Colbert, at home; his stepson, Bruce Colbert, Oberlin, Ohio; one sister, Nancy Martin, Glen Burnie, Md. and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by twin sisters, Patricia Stone and Paula Tancready and one brother, Jack Colbert.

Services and interment in the Ramsey Cemetery, Braxton County will be at a later date.

Memorial contributions can be made to Hospice of the Panhandle, 330 Hospice Lane, Kearneysville, WV 25430.

Services are being handled by Helsley-Johnson Funeral Home & Cremation Center, 95 Union Street, Berkeley Springs.
