Darrell S. Cowgill
1939-2018
Darrell Sheldon Cowgill of Newark, Del., 79, died November 4, 2018 after a battle with cancer.
He was born to the late Virginia and Welby Cowgill on April 6, 1939 and was raised in Paw Paw.
He was a skilled, self-taught musician who played Bluegrass and Country music. He liked word games, jigsaw puzzles, trivia and gadgets.
He retired from Avon Products in Newark, Del., with over 30 years of service.
He was preceded in death by his wife Kathryn “Katie” Voit Cowgill (in 1988), his siblings: Ruby Beyers, Frieda Bowen, Fred Cowgill and Kenneth Kerns.
He is survived by his partner and caregiver, Linda C. Bush and three children: Debra Cowgill, Daniel Cowgill and Darren Cowgill; grandchildren: Robert Ferguson, III, John Rodenbaugh, Jr., Ryan Cowgill, Katie Cowgill, Shawn Cowgill, Steven Cowgill, Valerie Rees, Kyle Leahy, Caitlin Leahy and Dillon Leahy, 13 great-grandchildren and nieces and nephews.
A visitation service will be held in his home state at the McKee Funeral Home in Augusta, on Saturday, November 10, 10 a.m.-noon. Church services will follow at Salem United Methodist Church, Slanesville at 1 p.m. with interment immediately following.
