Statewide, West Virginia’s case numbers have increased in the first week of August. Cumulative cases rose by almost 10%, with 773 additional state residents testing positive for the disease, bringing the cumulative case number to 7,713. Currently, there are 1,865 active cases in the state’s 55 counties.

Outbreaks have been reported in southern counties, like Logan, Kanawha, Raleigh and Cabell counties. State court officials have shut down judicial offices and even courthouses in the southern part of the state in response to high case numbers there.
