County Expo won’t be held this year

The Morgan County Fair Board has voted not to hold the Morgan County Expo this year due to public health and economic concerns.

Fair officials said they plan to hold the 20th county fair/expo event in July of 2021.

West Virginia University Morgan County Extension Agent Cindy Smalley said this in an announcement:

“[T]he new rules for gatherings; the age and health of many of our volunteers; not wanting to ask businesses who are already struggling for financial support; and the challenge of pulling off the event at this late date were all deciding factors.”

“While this is not the option any of us would want, we feel it best for the community at this time. The Fair Board appreciates the support of the community for the past 19 years and looks forward to when we are able to be together again,” Smalley added.

Smalley said that they’ll be planning a bigger event to celebrate their 20th anniversary and invited all interested individuals to join the board.

Call the Morgan County Extension Office at 304-258-8400 or email skwaugh@mail.wvu.edu to be added to the fair board’s contact list, or learn more about the expo.
