The Morgan County Clerk’s office has had more than 400 direct requests to their office from voters wanting an absentee ballot for the November 3 general election.
Voters can also file the ballot request through the West Virginia Secretary of State’s website, so the number of Morgan County ballot requests may be even higher, said County Clerk Kim Nickles on Monday.
Because of the COVID-19 pandemic, any registered voter can request a paper absentee ballot for the general election, and mark the medical category as the reason for the request.
Voters have until October 28 to request the ballots, which will be mailed to registered voters. Completed ballots will be able to be mailed back or dropped off at the County Clerk’s office.
The County Clerk’s office can begin sending ballots out to voters on September 18.
Voters who are not yet registered to vote have until October 13 to do so. An absentee ballot will not be mailed out except to a verified registered voter.
Early voting in person will take place at the Morgan County Clerk’s Office in the courthouse from Wednesday, October 21 through Saturday, October 31.
In-person voting will still take place in West Virginia on November 3. Morgan County voters will be able to vote on touch-screen machines in the county’s 13 precincts on that day.
