Former Dillon packing house
A week after announcing the purchase of the former Dillon packinghouse on the east end of town, town officials have released the purchase price amount.
At a March 14 town meeting, officials said the price wasn’t being disclosed until the town closed on the deal. The town is buying the property to consolidate its equipment and materials storage onto one site.
Town Manager David Smith said the property – a 66,000-square-ft. cold storage building and three lots totaling 1.78 acres — will be purchased for $300,000 from the Hess brothers.
The building had been on the tax rolls at a value of $773,100, he said. The Hess brothers bought the property in 1987 for $745,000, Smith said.
According to online county records, the owner of the building is H&H Storage LTD of Lancaster, Pa.
The town has not officially closed on the property and that won’t happen until at least July, said Smith.
