Charles J. Heise

1935-2018

Charles James Heise, 83, of Hedgesville, died Tuesday, June 12, 2018 at his home while under the care of Hospice of the Panhandle.

Born January 27, 1935 in Ferndale, Mich., he was the son of the late Claude Augustus, Sr. and Evelyn Claire Scheiblich Heise.

He was a member of St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church.

He served in the United States Air Force.

He was a member of West Virginian’s for Life.

He worked as an instrument calibration technologist for 20 years with nuclear energy; when young, he wired houses with his father and in recent years he owned and operated a CB radio repair shop and hobby shop.

He liked to tinker with everything, especially with hands-on projects.

He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Barbara Jean Schorn Heise at home; his children, Steven Heise, Bedford, Pa., Diane Liska, Irwin, Pa., Janice Miko, Los Alamos, N.M., Michael Heise, Martinsburg; John Heise, Tunnelton and Suzanne Maloney, Lolo, Mo.; four brothers, Rev. Fr. Bert Heise, OFM, Paul Heise, Kenan Heise and Joris Heise; seven grandchildren, Andrew Heise, Emily Liska, Joshua Miko, Rebecca Miko, Amy Heise, Christopher Maloney and Elise Maloney and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one son, Richard Heise; one sister, Mary Taylor and one brother, Claude Heise, Jr.

Mass of Christian burial was celebrated Monday, June 18 at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church, Berkeley Springs.

Rev. Fr. Leonard A. Smith as celebrant.

Burial was in Rocky Gap Veterans Cemetery in Flintstone, Md.

Arrangements were handled by Helsley-Johnson Funeral Home & Cremation Center, Berkeley Springs.
