Candidate forums set for Washington County, district races

The League of Women Voters of Washington County will hold candidate forums for races that will be decided in the upcoming General Election on November 3.

All forums will be held online and made available to the public live on the Washington County League’s Facebook page (LWV.WashCoMD) the evening of the event, and will be rebroadcast by Antietam Broadband on their WCL-TV channels 806 and 6. Check their online program guide for days and times following the events.

September 17, 7 p.m. – Board of Education,

September 24, 7 p.m. – Hagerstown Mayor and Council,

October 15, 7 p.m. 6th District Congressional. This event is hosted in cooperation with our co-sponsors, the Frederick League and Delta Sigma Theta Sorority.

The two forums for local races will be moderated by Dr. Eric Schwartz, Professor in the Social Science department at Hagerstown Community College.

The 6th District forum will be moderated by Dr. Betty Mayfield, chair of the mathematics department at Hood College and a past president of the League of Women Voters of Frederick County.

League President Richard Willson said that these forums have been scheduled early this fall so that voters planning to vote by mail will have the information they need to cast their ballots.

Visit the League’s webpage LWVWashCo.org for event links and directions on how to submit audience questions for the forums.

Printed answers to questions posed to those running for all offices on the 2020 ballot are available on the League’s premier voter information platform at www.VOTE411.org.
