BSHS Athletic Department MVP – Serenity Parsell

by Jamie Harris

This past week the Berkeley Springs High School Athletic Department released the BSHS Athletic Department MVP award winner. The individual who was honored with this award is a senior athlete who has gone the extra mile for their respective team.

The 2020 BSHS Athletic Department MVP award went to senior Serenity Parsell.

Parsell was a member of the Berkeley Springs High School softball team for three years.

New Lady Indians head softball coach Catherine Wood had this to say, “Serenity Parsell is a 2020 senior and has played softball for the past three years at BSHS as well as many years prior. Last year and this year Serenity really stepped up for the team. She led the JV team (first JV team in many years for BSHS) last year as the starting pitcher as well as playing nearly every other position on the field when needed and batting cleanup. Serenity stated, “I will play wherever you need me coach.” She led a young team with little experience and maintained a positive attitude through all the challenges. This year as we lost our entire last year’s varsity pitching staff to graduation and non-returners. Serenity took on the responsibility of becoming the varsity ace with every intention of giving it her all in the circle. In addition, she is a stellar student and is involved in many other school activities.”
