Stonerise Health Care’s Berkeley Springs Center has experienced a recent COVID-19 outbreak in staff members.
The West Virginia Department of Health and Human Resources COVID-19 website lists one active positive COVID-19 staff case and four recovered COVID-19 staff cases at the Berkeley Springs Center for a total of five cumulative COVID-19 staff cases.
Stonerise Health Care Marketing Director Kristin Anderson said that the first positive employee case of COVID-19 at the Berkeley Springs Center was confirmed on April 2. The last positive case was confirmed on April 23. There have been no cases of COVID-19 in residents.
“Immediately following the first positive case, all patients and team members were tested were tested for COVID-19. Additionally, enhanced safety protocols were implemented to prevent the spread of the virus and the affected employees at home,” Anderson said.
The Stonerise Berkeley Springs Center has administered the COVID-19 vaccine to 89% of its patients and 79% of its team members, Anderson said. Routine vaccine clinics are ongoing for new patients and new staff members.
She noted that the American Health Care Association reports that nationwide skilled nursing centers have a 37.5% adoption rate of the COVID-19 vaccine by staff.
