Berkeley Springs Indians Football strength & conditioning information

by Jamie Harris

The Morgan County Board of Education and Berkeley Springs High School administration has approved summer conditioning for football to start this week, beginning Monday, June 15.

The first week will consist of agility drills on the football field on Tuesday and Thursday. There will be two groups of 10 that will start at 9 a.m. and two groups of 10 that will start at 6 p.m.

WVSSAC has required all schools to limit each group to 10 athletes per coach. Athletes will be required to maintain social distancing during all activities and wear a mask unless participating in a drill.

All athletes and parents are required to complete a waiver before participating in any activity. Any athlete interested in participating needs to send an email to Coach Breeden at cbreeder@k12.wv.us or Coach Michael at dcmichae@ k12.wv.us and let them know what time they can be at the field.

This is a first come, first serve basis, and once you are in a group you must continue with the same group through conditioning.

During the week of June 22, it will be moved to Monday, Wednesday and Friday in the weight room. Times and groups will be determined once there is a count of the athletes who want to participate.

Conditioning and weight lifting are on a voluntary basis and will have no effect on playing time during the season. It is very important for parents and athletes to understand that football is a physically demanding sport.

Due to COVID-19 and the closure of school, many athletes have not had access to the weight room. We now have limited time before the start of the season which will begin August 3. If not participating in conditioning/ weight training, make sure you are preparing yourself for the upcoming season. Refer any questions to either Coach Breeden or Coach Michael.
