Barbara K. Howe

1917-2020

Barbara Kohman Howe, 103, of Berkeley Springs and formerly of Warfordsburg, Pa., died Friday, August 7, 2020 at the Berkeley Springs Center LLC, Berkeley Springs.

Born July 6, 1917 in Indianapolis, Ind., she was the daughter of the late Edward Frederick and Marguerite Olive Villepigue Kohman.

She was an active member of the Berkeley Springs Church of Christ.

She graduated from high school in Bethesda, Md. and went onto graduate from Penn State in 1940 with a degree in Psychology.

She retired from Arkwright Boston Insurance Company in 1982 having worked as a policy writing specialist.

During her active life she was a seamstress, harpist, cyclist, mountain climber and hiker, wood splitter, world traveler and clown among many other things.

She is survived by her children, Patricia Munchbach, Rockledge, Fla., Catherine Colpitts, Cape Cod, Mass. and Edward Howe, Warfordsburg, Pa.; 10 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brothers, Truman and Victor Kohman.

A memorial service will be held at a later date.

Memorial contributions in her name can be made to a charity of one’s choice.

Arrangements are being handled by Helsley-Johnson Funeral Home & Cremation Center, Berkeley Springs.
