Allison Gray named to Bub Riggleman Memorial Team

The Berkeley Springs High School Lady Indians Softball Team stayed busy over the spring break with five games. The Tribe started things off with a home contest on Wednesday, April 20 against St. James out of Hagerstown, Md.
Berkeley Springs was able to secure the 6-0 win. Lead- ing the way for the Lady Indians were Hailee Lewis (single, double, one RBI), Emma Widmeyer (double, triple, one RBI), Allison Gray (two singles, one RBI), Emily Schultz (triple, one RBI), Destiny Parsell (single), Marley Heath (single) and Alaira Harrington (single).
Schultz went the distance going seven innings for the shutout win in the circle al- lowing only four hits, no walks and striking out 12.
The Lady Indians played four games at the Bub Riggleman Memorial Tournament in Moorefield, last Friday and Saturday, April 22 and 23. Berkeley Springs went 2-2 over the two days collecting wins over Mussel- man (8-6) and Frankfort (9- 1). The two losses were to Independence (3-0) and Washington (13-0).
In game one against Musselman the Lady Indians rallied to claim the lead in the bottom of the sixth inning.
Leading the way were Gray (two doubles, one homerun, four RBIs), Widmeyer (three doubles, two RBIs), Ocean Clatterbuck (two singles), Parsell (two singles, one RBI).
Harrington got the win going seven innings and striking out four, while Schultz came in the seventh to pick up the save.
In game two against Independence the Lady Indians lost 3-0. The game was a battle between the team’ s two pitchers. Schultz took the tough loss going seven innings, scattering four hits and striking out five. Harrington (two singles) and Widmeyer (single) picked up the only hits for Berkeley Springs.
On Saturday the Lady Indians were back in action taking on rival Frankfort. The Tribe wasted no time as they took care of business winning 9-1 in five innings.
Leading with multiple hits were Gray (single, home run, two RBIs), Widmeyer (single, triple, two RBIs) and Harrington (single, double, one RBI). Clatterbuck, Parsell, Heath and Schultz also helped the team’s total hits.
Schultz pitched five innings with six strikeouts and only allowed a run on three hits.
In the final game for Berkeley Springs the Lady Indians took on Washington High School and lost 13-0. Destiny Parsell and Widmeyer picked up a single each at the plate.
Sophomore Gray was named to the Bub Riggleman All-Tournament team. Gray finished the weekend with two homeruns, a single, two doubles, two runs and six RBIs.
