1930-2022

Bobby Raymond Rhoe, 91, of Williamsport, Md., passed away on Sunday, April 24, 2022.

He was born on September 20, 1930 to the late Edgar Rhoe and Goldie Barnes Rhoe.

Bobby graduated from Hedgesville High School in 1947.

He served in the United States Army during the Korean War and was a long time employee of CSX Railroad as a Freight Agent.

He was a life member of American Legion Post #42 in Hagerstown, the Hagerstown Elks Lodge #378, as well as the Disabled American Veterans. He was a member of the former Railroad Oldtimers. Bobby was also a charter member of the Washington County Human Development Council, where he served on the board of directors and as treasurer for 42 years.

He was a member of Beaver Creek Country Club and a longtime member of Emmanuel United Methodist Church since 1959.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Scott Rhoe, and his brothers-in-law, John Hansroth and Everett Crowell.

He is survived by his loving wife of 64 years, Ruth Hansroth Rhoe, his daughters, Kimberly Connolly and her husband, Bill and Michelle “Shelli” Gest and her husband, Jack, his grandchildren, Megan Connolly, Matthew Connolly, Nicole Gest, and Jenna Gest, his sister, Dolly Crowell, his brother, Dennis Rhoe and his wife, Linda, his sister-in-law, Phyllis Hansroth, and his brother-in-law, Larry Hansroth and his wife, Jody.

Family and friends are welcomed for a graveside service on Saturday, April 30, 2022 at 11 a.m. at Rest Haven Cemetery, 1601 Pennsylvania Avenue in Hagerstown. A memorial visitation will be held Saturday at 12 p.m. at Emmanuel United Methodist Church, 802 Summit Avenue in Hagerstown. A memorial service will follow at 1 p.m. at the church.

The family would like to give a special thank you to the staff at Hilltop Assisted Living at Homewood as well as Hospice of Washington County’s Doey’s House.
