Eleanor Dru Grove, age 91, of Berkeley Springs, W.Va., died on Saturday, February 5, 2022 at War Memorial Hospital in Berkeley Springs, W.Va.

Born September 29, 1930 in Berkeley Springs, W.Va., she was the daughter of the late Charles Elsworth and Edith Evelyn Manley Bohrer.

She was a member of Wesley Chapel United Methodist Church in Berkeley Springs.

Eleanor attended Berkeley Springs High School and had been a homemaker for most of her life.

She did work for a short time at the Park View Inn.

She enjoyed dancing at the Stone Tavern in the 1940’s, reading, cooking, baking and doing puzzles. She loved to sunbathe by the pool. Eleanor was fond of dogs.

Her husband was the love of her life. They fell in love through the letters he sent her from Germany and France in 1945-1946.

She is survived by her children, Jacqueline Rae Hovermale of Berkeley Springs and Steven Clay Grove and his wife Debbie of Hedgesville; two sisters, Dolores Lowe of Winchester, Va. and Deborah Kay Michael of Berkeley Springs; three grandchildren, Denise Marie Omstead of Fairbanks, Alaska, Rebecca Dru Hovermale of Pittsburgh, Pa., and Faith Elizabeth McKechnie of Berkeley Springs; five great-grandchildren, Samuel Dennis Swiger, Grace Evelyn Swiger and Reese Bailey, all of Pittsburgh, Sofia Marguerite McKechnie and Hendrik Michael Chavez McKechnie, both of Berkeley Springs and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two sisters, Lorraine Moore and Patricia Shaw; two brothers, Charles Bohrer and Gaylen Shaw, Jr. and one infant grandchild, Scarlet Lorraine Hovermale.

Eleanor’s family would like to extend a special thank you to all the Senior Center Ladies and the Private Care Ladies, Kim, Dawn, Tammy, Monica, Betty and Renee.

Memorial services will be conducted at 2 p.m. on Sunday, February 20, 2022 at Wesley Chapel United Methodist Church, 165 Pious Ridge Road, Berkeley Springs, W.Va. Interment will be private.
